About D’Aguilar dem

If you’ve ever done laundry in Nassau, chances are you’ve done it at Superwash.

Started in 1968 by two brothers, Vincent and Adrian D’Aguilar, Superwash began as a single laundromat and has grown into the most recognized name in self-service laundry across The Bahamas. What began as a straightforward business idea has become a part of everyday life—practically a national fixture.

The story goes that Superwash wasn’t always open 24 hours. In the early days, every time Mr. D’Aguilar went to open up, someone was already waiting. And whenever he went to close, someone else was trying to squeeze in one last load. So they started opening a little earlier… and closing a little later… until eventually, it just made sense: Superwash would be open 24/7. That commitment to convenience became part of the brand’s DNA.

As the business grew, so did the vision. When Dionisio D’Aguilar took the helm in the early 1990s, the company began expanding steadily—bringing updated equipment, modern amenities, and new locations across New Providence. Superwash became more than just a place to wash clothes—it became a place Bahamians could depend on.

And then there was the radio campaign—the one that made everybody laugh and everybody listen. Featuring the unforgettable voices of Cookie and Hope, the ads captured everyday Bahamian life with wit and truth. Whether Junior let the car run out of erl, or someone refused to pay extra for their laundry basket to ride the bus, the message was clear: life happens—but clothes still need to be washed. The campaign wasn’t just funny, it was familiar. And it helped solidify Superwash as a true household name—wherever you heard the radio, you heard about D’Aguilar dem.

Today, brothers Dionisio and Dayne D’Aguilar have carried on what their father and uncle started, keeping Superwash not just running, but thriving. With 11 locations island-wide, Superwash continues to set the standard for clean, efficient, and reliable service.

Beyond laundry, the D’Aguilar family has contributed to the wider community—most notably through their involvement in the arts. Mr. Vincent D’Aguilar’s passion for Bahamian culture lives on through the D’Aguilar Art Foundation, a space that nurtures local artists and preserves the creative soul of the nation.
